Who We Are

CHAMBER of COMMERCE
has the COMMUNITY in Mind.

Many people call the Chamber to find out a business’s name or phone number. Some people even call for tourist information. But, why does the Chamber of Commerce exist?

The Chamber of Commerce actually has a lengthy purpose outlined in its bylaws. For brevity sake, that purpose can be distilled into these two points:
  1. To increase the wealth and prosperity of the community by facilitating the growth of existing businesses and fostering new ones.
  2. To use the wealth created in establishing and improving the civic, educational and cultural facilities of the community to attract more business and industry.

Essentially, our Chamber members are community builders.

The first goal of any Chamber member is to see that their Chamber protects and develops the best interests of the community as a whole. In that way, their business grows and prospers!

Our organization is an organization that works, with hundreds of volunteers, to make good things happen in our community.

You’ll find Chamber members at Village Board meetings, volunteering at schools, participating in community events, and being good citizens of the community. Does this help their business? It sure does!

The Chamber of Commerce uses it resources - both people and financial resources - to invest in the community.

By publishing the Community Guide, maps and business directories, the Chamber provides information to current residents as well as prospective residents and businesses.

By hosting educational programs, promotional events and after-hour networking sessions we are building a business community that supports each other.

By participating in joint promotions, political-action committees, and regional activities we are expanding our community into other areas not immediately in our geographic area.

All of this helps our businesses as well as the village of Arlington Heights as a whole.

The Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce is not a part of any form of government - village, county, state or federal.

Therefore, we do not receive any funding from any government body. We operate the Chamber with funds that come from our membership.

Along with membership dues, we supplement the treasury with special money making projects to fund the ongoing challenges of community building.

Our Installation Dinner, Golf Outing and special events support the treasury so membership dues can be kept at a reasonable level - so all businesses can participate in the Chamber of Commerce.

When you see the Chamber of Commerce Certificate in a local business, you can be assured that the business cares whether your community continues to exist and the quality of life maintained.

Membership in the Chamber gives the business owner the assurance that the organization keeps working for them to see that the community keeps growing and prospers. In return that business will continue to prosper.

We’re embarking on a membership campaign this spring to bring even more of the over 4,000 businesses of Arlington Heights into the Chamber of Commerce.

The more “Community Builders” we can recruit into members, the better the community will be as a whole.

Encourage the businesses you patronize to join the Chamber if they aren’t already a member. Your community will be better for it!
